Hi Kent, Our primary users require access to Aura data products as well as other EOS data sets. Aura data are HDF5 whereas other EOS data sets are HDF4. Aura data are distributed to both end users and some other data centers (university, government facility). As you note, high performance subsetting is an area of interest. This would apply to both swath and gridded data sets. We are particularly interested in seeing applications for L2 data and L2G data. Below is a link to a data access and analysis application that is running on data stored locally. http://acdisc.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/Giovanni/omi/omi.L2G.2.shtml Having OpenDAP support L2G files would enable remote access to other products to Giovanni and other applications. For access to OMI data go to http://acdisc.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/ Regards Bruce Vollmer NASA GSFC Code 610.2 Bruce.E.Vollmer@nasa.gov 301-614-5373 MuQun Yang wrote: Hi, Bruce, This is Kent from the HDF group. You show strong interests of the HDF5-OPeNDAP server at the HDF workshop. Now we are in the design stage of this server. Since we would like this server to be useful in serving Aura data. Before implementation, I would like to hear your opinions about the server. 1. How will you use this server? What kind of users are you going to serve? For example, to distribute Aura data to end-users or to distribute data to some centers? 2. What features do you must have to serve? What features are you desiring but not required? For example, high performance subsetting is essential for many users. Also, do you need non-HDF5 DAP clients serve the data? Something like that. 3. Could you provide several *TYPICAL *aura files you are going to use OPeNDAP to serve? 4. I know there are four instrument teams of Aura. Do you know any contacts of data service persons in these four teams? Also do you have any potential NASA Aura OPeNDAP users in your mind? Thank you, Kent
